around the head of the 68-mile-long Oslofjord, Oslo is probably the most
spacious city in the world. Its 175-square-mile metropolitan area
consists of over 75 percent forests and five percent water. Its fine
deep harbor, Pipervika, stretches into the heart of the city and from it
leave ferries to Denmark and Germany.
An easy to make, delicious sweet bread that's perfect
with coffee or tea for breakfast or as a late afternoon snack with tea.
Needed:
1 1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1½ teaspoons pure almond extract
⅔ cups milk.
1¼ cup flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 stick butter, melted
Spray a rounded loaf pan with cooking spray. Beat the
sugar, egg, almond extract and milk well, then add the flour, baking
powder, and butter. Pour into pan. Sprinkle top with
slivered or sliced almonds. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes. Edges
should be golden brown. Cool in pan before removing. Sprinkle bread with
powdered sugar.
